Lightning strikes are awesome! Just ask our 3rd place 2015 Dare 2B Digital Innovation Challenge team in the “Environment” category. This team decided that we need cleaner energy sources, so they brainstormed until lightning struck, literally! Watch their big idea as they show us how we can use this free resource in conjunction with existing power plants to generate power in a clean and efficient way! Lu takes us through a short history lesson about an invention in 1744 called a Leyden jar to store static electricity. Did she also say, “Flux Capacitor?” Okay, the younger crowd won’t get this but it harkens to a throwback movie traveling through time… “Back to the Future.” Nice job!
Congratulations Team Leader Lu Swearengen and her teammate Gracie Young from the Santa Catalina School in Monterey, CA.
