Daring Girls to be Digital

Special thanks to Robyn Roark for this post (re-blogged from Silicon Valley Mamas).

When I was in the sixth grade, I remember my teacher telling me that I was smart enough in math and science that I could be an engineer when I grew up. I still remember thinking that it was so weird that my teacher wanted me to be an engineer on a train. You see, I had no exposure to the world of engineering. STEM the Tide: Dare 2B Digital on Feb 9th

But Mitch Resnick, who spoke at TEDxBeaconStreet in November, is skeptical of this descriptor. Sure, young people can text and chat and play games, he says, “but that doesn’t really make you fluent.”
